Full Moon

Pale light brightens the beaten path
Taken so many times in the past
Where one set of paws crush the leaves
Marking this land his territory, his home

Now the monthly run has come
Wolf is jumping out of the skin
A suit made of flesh and human bone
Wolf is ready to run on this full moon night

It always starts with a subtle itch
But leads to a burn, a passion of fire
Bright enough to melt and reshape
The bones and humanity of his form

Claws sprout from rounded fingernails
Ears stretch and perk straight up
As a long and profound muzzle appears
Slowly being covered in light brown fur

A groan of pain slips from his lupine formed maw
As his transformation makes it’s completion
Yellow amber eyes, a black leather nose
A bushy brown tail and hard padded paws

Again he was whole, wild, ready to be free
